This section collects filmed interviews with people who have experienced, investigated or resisted digital repression.
The project explores how technology, surveillance, censorship, harassment and digital threats are used to silence people — both in their home countries and in exile.
What the interviews cover
The interviews will explore themes such as:
- digital surveillance
- censorship and platform control
- hacking, threats and targeted attacks
- online harassment and smear campaigns
- transnational repression
- exile, family pressure and fear
- resistance, safer communication and practical strategies
Why this matters
Digital repression does not only happen online. It can affect family, work, safety, artistic freedom, political participation and the ability to tell the truth.
For many people, the pressure continues after flight or exile. Digital attacks can cross borders, reach into private spaces and create fear far beyond the country where the repression began.

Security and consent
Some interviews may be published with full names. Others may be published with pseudonyms, anonymisation or limited identifying information.
We do not publish sensitive material without consent, and we consider the security of each person before an interview is made public.
